Daughter of the Pirate King (Daughter of the Pirate King #1)
There will be plenty of time for me to beat him soundly once I’ve gotten what I came for.
Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map—the key to a legendary treasure trove—seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship.
More than a match for the ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has only one thing standing between her and the map: her captor, the unexpectedly clever and unfairly attractive first mate, Riden. But not to worry, for Alosa has a few tricks up her sleeve, and no lone pirate can stop the Daughter of the Pirate King.

(4 / 5) This was so fun! I wanted a quick book in between a few books and this was just right. It was a fairly short, quick read but was full of adventure the entire time.
Alosa is taken from her ship and kept captive on another pirate ship to hold her ransom. She is THE pirate king’s daughter. The pirate king who rules the entire ocean and every pirate pays him in some way. The pirates want to bring him down and figure Alosa is the way to do it. However, Alosa PLANNED this.
Alosa is hilarious. She had me laughing multiple times. She’s sassy, fiery, tough and no-nonsense. She brought some definite spunk to the book with her inner thoughts and thinking her way though problems. She is trained in all ways possible and is able to fight or think her way through any situation. I loved that. There was always a way out or through.
On the ship Alosa meets Riden who is her captor. He can sense she holding back from fighting too hard and that she’s smarter than she’s letting on. He e finds her very amusing. Her frustrations, her bickering–oh their banter was my favorite. I definitely laughed a lot with those two. After some time, it becomes obvious one or both has feelings for each other.
I had fun with this one. It was action-packed, funny and enjoyable. I will definitely be checking out book 2!
