My Opinion
(4.5 / 5) When the previous beloved sheriff passes away, he gives his house and everything in it to his adopted daughter Hazel. His two biological sons do not take to this well. Hazel’s mother abandoned them years before and took their family’s money and valuables with her when she left.
It starts out as a slow burn, with a hint of mystery, but high suspense. As it progresses, it becomes more about family, secrets and what these small town police officers deem what is good for the town. Hazel begins questioning everything she knows and investigates on her own. Was her father leaving her clues?
As with most Megan Miranda books, this one took off well and grabbed my attention. She delivered a tense, twisty plot that played out perfectly. I highly recommend!
