Murder Road

Simone St. James

Paranormal Thriller

A young couple find themselves haunted by a string of gruesome murders committed along an old deserted road in this terrifying new novel.

July 1995. April and Eddie have taken a wrong turn. They’re looking for the small resort town where they plan to spend their honeymoon. When they spot what appears to be a lone hitchhiker along the deserted road, they stop to help. But not long after the hitchhiker gets into their car, they see the blood seeping from her jacket and a truck barreling down Atticus Line after them.

When the hitchhiker dies at the local hospital, April and Eddie find themselves in the crosshairs of the Coldlake Falls police. Unexplained murders have been happening along Atticus Line for years and the cops finally have two witnesses who easily become their only suspects. As April and Eddie start to dig into the history of the town and that horrible stretch of road to clear their names, they soon learn that there is something supernatural at work, something that could not only tear the town and its dark secrets apart, but take April and Eddie down with it all.

My Opinion

“You can’t run from your demons forever. Sometimes you need to walk into them head on.”

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5) This is my first by Simone St. James, and it won’t be my last! Thanks to PRH Audio, I’ve already requested more.

A good paranormal mystery always starts with a slight creepy feeling that you can’t shake. It has unanswered questions and a mystery that is hard to put your finger on. This book encompassed all of those and more.

April and Eddie, portrayed as sweet newlyweds, find themselves in danger as they pick up a hitchhiker on a long dark road. After an unthinkable outcome, they delve into the secrets of the town and the sinister events that have occurred. Their determination to uncover the truth added tension which moved the book forward quickly.

The mystery aspect of the story is executed well, keeping me guessing until the very end. And while the paranormal twist wasn’t my favorite, it added an extra sense of intrigue. The story wrapped up a bit too neatly but the journey to get there was undeniably entertaining.

I recommend this for suspense and paranormal fiction lovers!

AUDIO REVIEW: Brittany Pressley embodied the suspense beautifully. Her voice portrayed an eeriness when needed that was an extra bonus to the story.
