Teddy Crutcher has won Teacher of the Year at the esteemed Belmont Academy, home to the best and brightest.
He says his wife couldn’t be more proud—though no one has seen her in a while.
Teddy really can’t be bothered with the death of a school parent that’s looking more and more like murder or the student digging a little too deep into Teddy’s personal life. His main focus is on pushing these kids to their full academic potential.
All he wants is for his colleagues—and the endlessly meddlesome parents—to stay out of his way.
It’s really too bad that sometimes excellence can come at such a high cost.
USA Today bestselling author Samantha Downing is back with her latest sneaky thriller set at a prestigious private school—complete with interfering parents, overeager students, and one teacher who just wants to teach them all a lesson…

“If the world wasn’t filled with so many incompetent people, (he) would have so much time to focus on the important things. Like teaching.”
(4.5 / 5) I loved this one!
Teddy Crutcher is a self-righteous, know-it-all teacher at Belmont Academy, a prestigious high school parents send their kids before going off to Ivy League. Teddy knows what’s best for everyone, whether they know it or not.
My favorite part of this book is the POV. We know who the killer is. We know how they’ve done it. We know what they’re going to do next. I loved this!! Most thrillers are done in the similar fashion of guessing throughout until you reach the end. But this way, I found it so much more satisfying. I loved being in the killer’s thoughts and seeing their next move. I loved wanting to shake people because it all seemed just so obvious. And the FBI? Wow, they did not get a good rap in this book, they were wrong so many times.
Truly, Downing has me looking into her other books because if they’re similar to this then I’ve found a new thriller author.
Content Summary: Minimal (if any?) language, poisonings, drugs.

Sandford does this too a few times, gives us the killer then sets lucas after him!
That’s exciting to discover a new author you love!
