A young woman imagines a rude man choking and her laughing over him.

Two people tell of a jabberwock attacking a party and taking off with two courtiers (the courtiers are the playing cards that are alive), shreds of cardstock were later found. One man was injured on his neck while trying to fight off the jabberwok.

The jabberwok returns. He is clawing through windows and trying to find a way inside. Some talk of drawing him out so others can escape. It attacks and one character is taken while trying to protect another. It is rumored that it eats its victims.

Two young women steal a pumpkin from a pumpkin patch.

The jabberwok has black scaly skin, rabid eyes and claws. It crashes through a door and goes to attack two people but a bird pecks at its eye. The entire building shakes from it. A man fights with the beast, but a young woman finds a sword and plans to cut off its head.

A man is accused of kidnapping a young woman.

Two men crash a party. One is holding an ax. Guards chase the men with spears.

A man locks up a woman in a house and she is screaming to get out. She is his prisoner. She is to be fed to the jabberwok. A man slams a young woman against a wall as he holds an ax above her. A man attacks that man but another figure appears with another ax. One man throws a pumpkin at the other man’s head and he passes out. The jabberwok swipes at a young woman. The head is cut off and rolls splattering blood on the ground. A man then turns to a young woman with his ax. Then he turns and chops off another’s head. A young woman puts her hand in a puddle of blood. Revenge is promised. She imagines squeezing the man’s throat, killing him.

A young girl plunges a knife through a young woman’s chest to steal her heart. The heart is brought out on the knife and the young woman lives without it.

A prisoner is brought forward in chains, a young woman imagines his blood spilling across the floor. She also remembers the prisoner killing a man by cutting off his head. She then orders the prisoner’s head to be cut off.

A young woman dreams of kissing a man.

A man climbs a tree to visit a young woman in her bedroom.

A young woman wears a dress that reveals cleavage.

A young woman and man kiss. Softly at first then she pulls him into the grass with her. They continue kissing.  

Jokes were made about a wedding night and bets were made on how soon children would come.

A couple kiss and “crush” their mouths together.

The couple kiss again.

A man vaguely implies he loved another man.


Potentially Intense themes

A young woman’s mom calls her small, derogatory terms such as stupid or doltish. She also comments on her weight or how much she’s eating periodically.

A family has generational madness where each man kills himself at some point. The man for this generation is hoping he’s found a way around it.

Three young sisters are a creepy addition to the book. They look to be about age 6, pale skin and they dress up as animals.
