My Opinion

4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5) The only thing you need to know is, “The serial killer isn’t on trial. He’s on the jury.”

Ingenious I tell you! When I read that one-liner from the cover, I knew I needed the book. I don’t even like courtroom thrillers anymore but with a line like that, I couldn’t resist.  My fascination with serial killers however, still hangs around, regardless how many fantasy’s I read.

This is expertly mapped out with a POV from the killer and a POV from the lawyer. Let me just preface the rest by saying that this is my first book by Cavanagh and though it is book 4 in the series, I never felt I was missing out. He impressed me enough however, that I’m tempted to read the others.

Eddie Flynn is your all-around good guy with many flaws that hold him back. He was the perfect underdog!

The killer is cruel, brilliantly clever and bold. While there are not a ton of gory details, there are enough for you to know exactly what’s going on. So while the details are not necessarily gruesome, what he is doing is. He skillfully works his way onto the jury. This alone led me to read the book. But once he’s there? He just doesn’t stop.

Fabulously written, kept me on my toes and I couldn’t wait to get back to reading. Either I love courtroom thrillers again or Cavanagh is just that good! Best $1 I’ve spent at a used bookstore.
