My Opinion

4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5) Aaah, it’s good to be back in this world. I forget how much I love it! I’ll start reading and find myself just reading so fast and not wanting to stop. I love this series!

Because of this series I find myself saying Maas is a favorite author. But really, I haven’t loved her other books. She took a turn into adult fantasy (which is where I agree she should be) but I miss the writing like this. This series far outweighs her other 2 series in my opinion.

We start with Celaena but it ends with Aelin and I love that she embraces that change. More so, I love love Manon. I couldn’t remember which book she showed up in and I was so excited to have her back. She is truly a “cinnamon roll” character and I adore that. Between her and Abraxos, I am truly in love. They are made perfectly for each other, complimenting each other and bringing out each strengths.

Another part I love about this story is her friendship with Rowan. It is a deep and understanding relationship and I appreciate so much that they are such great friends! Not every book needs to have a huge love interest.

On to book 4, I can’t wait!

General content summary: This is another reason I love this series; no F words. Wow, considering Maas’ other books, this is astounding. Language is still there but it’s fairly minimal. The largest concern with this book (in my opinion) is the violence. Language, wine, physical violence (multiple times, blood, weapons and more), m/m marriage, bloody death of beheading and cut off limbs then eaten by a wyvern, bloody vision of parental deaths with gore, chase and attack of creatures (multiple), killing of creatures, creature attacks, whipping and beatings for punishment (multiple), many corpses are found without blood, people are taken captive and tortured and killed, thousands of people are killed, battle, whipping, bloody murders (details), blood oaths, sliced throat death, m/f sleeping in same bed (no intimacy), beheading (bloody, details).
