Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead (Finlay Donovan #2)

Elle Cosimano

Finlay Donovan is—once again—struggling to finish her next novel and keep her head above water as a single mother of two. On the bright side, she has her live-in nanny and confidant Vero to rely on, and the only dead body she’s dealt with lately is that of her daughter’s pet goldfish.

On the not-so-bright side, someone out there wants her ex-husband, Steven, out of the picture. Permanently. Whatever else Steven may be, he’s a good father, but saving him will send her down a rabbit hole of soccer moms disguised as hit-women, and a little bit more involvement with the Russian mob than she’d like.

Meanwhile, Vero’s keeping secrets, and Detective Nick Anthony seems determined to get back into her life. He may be a hot cop, but Finlay’s first priority is preventing her family from sleeping with the fishes… and if that means bending a few laws then so be it.

With her next book’s deadline looming and an ex-husband to keep alive, Finlay is quickly coming to the end of her rope. She can only hope there isn’t a noose at the end of it…

My Opinion

“This chapter was definitely not in my copy of What to Expect When You’re Expecting. I wanted my money back.”

4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5) I love Vero, I love Finlay. They get in the stupidest situations and it’s just plain entertaining. The story flew quickly and kept my interest. I was worried book 2 wouldn’t hold to the same standards of book 1 but Cosimano pulled it off and once again, I was smiling throughout the book!

I didn’t laugh quite as much as the first but still, no complaints. I couldn’t predict the twists, I was baffled by their stupidity and it was an enjoyable read.

I still feel lucky to have received this early copy! Cosimano is spectacular at grabbing you from page one, bringing in the “real” of parenting, dating and just life. She is able to connect with readers in so many ways because even if we don’t want to admit it, we’ve all had the same thoughts. I love her for that! Cue the applause for Cosimano, I will continue to read all her books!

Content Summary: F words: 5, minimal language, small intimate scene, corpse details, guns shot at people, building fires, theft, blackmail, crime.
