The Happy Ever After Playlist

Abby Jimenez

From the USA Today bestselling author of The Friend Zone comes an adorable and fresh romantic comedy about one trouble-making dog who brings together two perfect strangers.

Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can’t seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a “take me home” look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker’s owner reaches out. He’s a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.

Well, Sloan’s not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can’t deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There’s no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?

My Opinion

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5) Is this why people read romance? I’ve never been a romance fan but I loved this book! It was lighthearted, cute, sweet and just what I needed. The book has heart and I love how she made a playlist by assigning a song to each chapter. I knew most of the songs and it was a cute glimpse into what the chapter was like. A full playlist is on Spotify, just so you can follow along.
Jimenez took a plot that is simple but dreamy and made it just different enough to keep me guessing. She had me rooting for the characters and loving the flirty banter. I laughed multiple times. She easily made grief appropriate without making me feel the weight of it. She also navigated loving again after a death, very well. It was respectful and sweet. I liked that!

The content had language (quite a few F words), detailed sex and death of a loved one. I recommend this for those who love romance or need a light, quick read like I did. (PS the audio is great! 2 narrators for the 2 POV. It was done very well.)
Thank you to Libro.fm and Forever for gifting me a free alc copy in exchange for an honest review. This book is out April 14!
